Today Beckett and I were driving to Walmart to pick up some carpet cleaner. It was windy and cold and dreary outside. Ryan was at home with the little Pie, preparing his lesson for the seminary class he is teaching this week. Ashley, Richard and the kids would be to our house within the hour for Family Home Evening. I still had dishes to do, laundry to fold, and let me be honest... I still had half a suitcase that needed to be unpacked from our vacation 3 weeks ago. Dinner wasn't made, and I really had no clue what I would make anyway. I was feeling a little overwhelmed.
I turned the Radio on as we made our way down 2nd East and some upbeat R&B song came on, not one that I really know well, but it got me snapping. Just then I look in the rear view mirror and my sweet little boy was in his car seat moving his head back and forth and trying ever so hard to snap his fingers, just like mommy! With a smile on his face and such determination he stayed that way the whole rest of the way to the store, focusing in on his thumb and pointer finger trying over and over again to make that clicking sound. He hasn't quite got it yet, but I am sure he will try again and again.
It's the simple things that remind me how special my life is as a mother, how grateful I am that my children can teach me little life lessons everyday.
